At the end of a long day nothing can ground you and calm you like a comfortable routine. A routine lets you take a break from the stress of decision fatigue and can signal your mind and body to start getting ready to rest and recuperate. Settling down to watch a familiar show, or getting cozy and curling up with a book are great, but one of our favorite parts of every night is our nighttime skincare routine.
Your skincare routine should reflect you - because no two people are alike, and no two skin types are exactly the same. That’s why it's a good idea to try different nighttime skincare routine steps. Let's get you started with some basics.
It can be confusing at first to work out a nighttime skincare order! To start off with let's keep things clean and simple. You can always add more or take away nighttime skincare routine steps if you are finding some products working better for you than others.
We're gonna get back to basics and start our new night skincare routine by cleansing all the grit and grime of the day away. Our Down to Earth Gel Cleanser is a great way to set the foundation and bring your skin back to zero at the start of a new routine.
Our natural gel cleanser detoxes and restores your skin with natural pink kaolin clay, while French green clay absorbes excess oil and unclogs your pores for a fresh out of the box feeling that you can build on. Use one to two pumps of gel cleanser, add water to lather and then gently massage it into your face using an upward circular motion. This cleanser is great for normal, oily, or combination skin types. It leaves you refreshed with a natural citrus scent and all the Vitamin C in the formula restores clarity to your skin after some not so clear days. Splash with warm water after to rinse the face cleanser off.
Next, we're going to do some extra work on that fresh clear face and apply a facial mask. Our No Plans Desert Rose Clay Face Mask goes a bit deeper by detoxing your pores and pulling pollutants and impurities from your skin. It's a natural and organic, non-drying, high-quality face mask featuring Rose Flower Extract to reduce redness and bolster cellular hydration.
Now that you're post-cleanse simply smooth an even layer of the clay mask over your skin, but be careful to avoid your eyes. Let the mask sit for about 10 minutes, then rinse with lukewarm water. After cleansing, our natural face mask will replenish and soften your skin without drying it out. Use one to two times a week.
Now that you've cleansed, detoxed, and softened your skin it's time to use a slightly more targeted treatment for any specific effects or results you might be looking for. There's no one single routine or solution for everyone at this stage so we're going to show you two directions you can take depending on the best nighttime skincare routine for you personally.
Both paths will set you up with a great nighttime skincare routine. However, depending on your skincare situation you may want effects from both serums... if you can't decide don't worry! It can be very effective to alternate or 'cycle' skincare treatments and get the best of both worlds.
To cap things off you're going to want an overnight treatment that will keep working, while you, are sleeping. To make sure you wake up fresh and vibrant we recommend our fabulous Up The Anti Anti Aging Night Cream.
This In Style Editor's pick we think is the best natural Anti-aging cream out there. After your serum treatments have been fully absorbed, evenly and gently massage your anti-aging night cream onto your skin. The green tea scent always settles our minds before bed and adds an air of calm tranquility to your ritual. This anti-aging cream restores and hydrates your skin overnight, locking in moisture and active natural ingredients like Niacinamide, a form of Vitamin B-3 that stimulates the production of ceramides, elastin, and keratin. Ceramides are lipids that maintain the skin's barrier and hydration, Elastin is a protein providing skin elasticity and firmness, and Keratin is a protein that strengthens your skin, hair, and nails. All three are vital for healthy, firm, and revitalized skin while helping to prevent wrinkles and fine lines.
So now you are off to bed, calm, cleansed, relaxed, and restored. That long video call at work is just a distant memory. A skincare routine at night is something to look forward to and a great way to build some structure and good habits before bed. A lot of people have morning wake up routines but a nighttime routine to wind down can be just as powerful. We've outlined just a basic routine but it's only a starting point. Remember it's YOUR face and your routine, find a time and pattern that works for you. If you miss a night it's not a major disaster, there's tomorrow night to look forward to!
