Ever wonder what kind of skincare that Rachel or Monica would use before they hit up Central Perk or went on a big date? Or even Joey before hitting up a Mets game?
Well, in celebration of Friends’ 25th anniversary, we decided to explore the skincare routine of each of your favorite friends.
Rachel Green: Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamin C
A self-proclaimed fashionista - and employee at both Bloomingdale’s and Ralph Lauren - Rachel is always into the latest, hippest trends in the fashion world.
That means she’d be up on her skincare routine, too. This year’s must-have’s that she’d enjoy? Popular, on-trend ingredients like hyaluronic acid and vitamin C - especially after Emma’s kept her up all night!
Products She’d Love: Cloud Whip, Pep Rally
Phoebe Buffay: Squalane
Known for her quirky personality and off-the-beaten-path lifestyle, Phoebe is all about living in a sustainable, animal-friendly way.
That means she’d be all about plant-based, all-natural ingredients like squalane. Squalane is the stabilized version of squalene, an oil found in our sebum (as well as in olives, rice bran, sugarcane, and shark liver - 8 Saints uses sustainably sourced squalane from olive oil). It’s an excellent, non-comedogenic moisturizer, and it helps maintain deep hydration from within.
Products She’d Love: All In, High Society
Monica Geller: Glycolic Acid and Antioxidants
A self-proclaimed, OCD neat freak, Monica is all about having things clean and in order - and she won’t have things any other way. She’d absolutely love skin brightening products and toning like glycolic acid and vitamin C.
Glycolic acid, in particular, is an AHA - or natural exfoliant - that loosens the intercellular glue that holds skin cells together. This moves along the skin’s shedding process and helps reveal more youthful, wrinkle-free skin.
Similarly, vitamin C works to brighten skin, even skin tone, and protect from free radicals - all of which are sure to be Monica approved.
Products She’d Love: Soulmate
Ross Geller: Face Mask
A little neurotic and perpetually stressed, Ross actually doesn’t shy away from some skincare maintenance. It was his idea, after all, to use a face mask on his ‘t-zone,’ self-tan, and even whiten his teeth. He’d love a soothing scrub or a clarifying face mask to get him ready for a date or a night on the town.
Products He’d Love: No Plans, Zen Out of Ten
Chandler Bing: Essential Oils
Chandler Bing famously had an episode when he’d steal his wife Monica’s baths. He loved the essential oils, Epsom salts, and the smelly candles - and he was super bummed when he couldn’t replicate the soothing experience.
He’d love any soothing bath product with essential oils and great texture.
Products He’d Love: Night Shift, High Society
Joey Tribbiani: Physical Scrub
Joey is a stereotypical guy’s guy: he likes girls, the Mets, and eating pizza on his Barcalounger. Chances are the only skincare products he would use are those left by Rachel in the shower or on the bathroom counter.
Some low maintenance, easy-to-execute option? An in-shower exfoliating scrub or a multipurpose cleanser.
